How Does Sports Affect The Sports World - 915 Words

Imagine yourself in the early years of organized baseball. There was not a great deal of pomp and circumstance for the early players of the sports. They were not the pampered individuals that we see today. They were guys who went on the road for weeks on end and played injured and beaten down. I think when we ask ourselves the question, â€Å"Did the introduction of more money and power change the sports world?† I think that would be answered with an absolute yes. The real question is, how did it change us? Gender, Race, and Ethnicity and Sports Going back to the beginning. If we look at professional sports early on in the 20th century we see a grossly different picture than how sports are treated today. They pay back then was not great, nor were the standards. Players often played, injured, tired and road weary. The equipment was very rarely effective at doing its job, and yet they played with incredible heart. I think that this very fact leads me to believe that the money that has been injected into the professional sports world has completely changed it. Many people would say that it has all but ruined professional sports. Back in the good old days men would play for mere pennies on the dollar because they had a genuine love for the game. Whatever that game may have been. Now we see literal prima donnas that are paid millions, sometimes to simply sit the bench.
